I'm glad we all had a good time. It came off well because we had a group of good people having fun. It was fun for me to be with family and friends for a week.
I will soon figure out how we can post our photo albums.
Great time.

Wow, what a trip! Everything worked out just right. Thanks to all for the planning, design, and execution. A special thanks to Zach and Tricia for their wonderful hospitality and campfire chatter (and other things).
When's the next trip?

St paddy wagon's day
SO......
Do any of us really have enough Irish, or Catholic, or any combination of the two to really warrant a blowout for this day? I mean I am all for Guiness/ Jameosn's boilermakers as much as the next guy, and might blow up a car or two er.. I mean do a car bomb even . I's just wondering for my geanology project?
I can't imagine a more fitting day, with more fitting peeps to let a little bit o' mick, bog trottin leprochaun, hooligannery out? And we all like Guiness and good Whiskey right? so bring some green!
( Is this post as confusing to anyone else as it is to me )

Whacky Weather Alert!
I encourage everyone to keep an eye on the Alpine weather forecast over the next few days and definitely before you zip up your travel bags....I just checked myself, cause there is hope of rain through Thursday, and found that all of a sudden our temperatures are drastically dropping and winter seems to want one last go before spring. We actually have a chance of freezing rain now. Anyway, the predicted highs for Sun-Tues are somewhere between 60-70. That as you know, could all change again, so...you're prob. safest to just bring anything from a bathing suite to a ski suite =) p.s. here is the National Weather Service website for Alpine:
http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?CityName=Alpine&state=TX&site=MAF&textField1=30.3632&textField2=-103.665&e=0

Ideas?
So maybe on Sunday we can explore Alpine and stuff since it stays lighter later (thanks to former President W). We will get there about 3 p.m. I guess. Then Monday do either the Marfa/star party or Big Bend for a full day, then Tuesday do either Marfa/star party or Big Bend for a full day, then Wednesday repeat....then we go back to the flatland on Thursday.

Some Thoughts from Babs
Howdy! Ok, since St. Paddy's day occurs during our trek, I bought some green glasses for some green beers (or Killarneys) and am making some green cupcakes. Perhaps Rev Bob can say a word. Also, on a more serious note...is Jimmy coming with Danny is some form or fashion? He could stick around in the Bend and enjoy the view forever. And Rev Bob could speak more wisdom words.

You Guys Rock!...Alpine Rocks!...2 great things that go great together!
Hi Everybody! This is Tricia and I was told that this Blog was the place where all the cool people hang out and that anybody that was anybody was writing on it. This is my very first ever Blog posting, so hopefully I'm smart enough to figure out how this stuff works. Anyway, just thought I'd tell you all how super awesome it is that you're coming out and know that we're all bound for a jolly good time!
Also, here's a little peek at the current weather here, so you can start planning your fab. wardrobe selections. By about 10:am or so, it's getting to be between 88-90 deg., warming up to about 93, until prob. 2:00/3:00ish, where it slowly begins to cool off. The early evenings are averaging in the mid to upper 70's and night cools to mid 40's-50's. As for surrounding areas (Ft. Davis, Marfa), the day temps will be similar, but the evenings will be cooler by sometimes 10 deg. Star parties are a big exception and do in fact get cold, even in the dead of summer, so be sure to bring a jacket (or borrow one of ours), and I recommend a hat or similar head covering. Foil hats are acceptable but extraterrestrial contact is highly unlikely, though, I'm sure they'd fit in to this crowd with hardly any notice ;) Another thought on the weather is to remember, we're a lot closer to the sun here, so don't forget your shades and I recommend a good shade hat, and sunblock might be considered.
Check this out...I have 5 free passes for daytime activities at the Observatory and 3 free passes for Star Party. So, I'm thinking a little contest should be held to see who gets them? Something along the lines of, the three people who say the top funny things on a particular day or the three who carry out the best practical joke against Zach, or maybe just whoever buys me the best dessert =) I'll mull it over. What do you think...any contest ideas?
Well, guess I better scoot. Hopefully after writing all this, it actually posts and I don't hit something that, instead makes it disappear... cause that's just the kind of mad skills I have...
Love y'all!

McDonald Observatory Side Trip
There’s interest in joining a star gazing party at the McDonald Observatory one evening if it’s not booked up. We could take a day where we explore Ft. Davis and end up at the Observatory in the evening for star gazing. We should think picnic if we are not able to make it to a restaurant late.
Important!!!! It is very cold at night at that altitude. You must bring your warmest clothes: coat, gloves and boots.
